Remember also that there is no shortage of free opinions in aviation; generally speaking, you're best oft ignoring these and doing whatever
you think is best for
you.
In this particular example, many number of people would say "it's a no brainer; fly the Tiger Moth while you have the chance!", while others would say "why would you want to learn on a quirky old wreck like that when you could be learning faster and more comfortably in a modern 'plane?". Neither side has a monopoly on the truth.

A Gift of Wings where he talks about the difference between flyers and aviators (or some such distinction, I can't remember exactly: anyway, it's about people who fly modern, well-instrumented touring airplanes vs. those who engage in soaring, aerobatics, etc.).
