Yes, it has been discussed at length, as alternative to the scenario that a very rare failure of the probe (the same one that's flying on 7,000 737NGs) on a 3-month old aircraft was followed by its replacement with an equally defective overhauled probe.

The maintenance guy even cleaned the connector ! did he not know he was working on a brand new airplane ?
A cynic (or anyone who has worked on aircraft maintenance) might suggest that the purpose of cleaning the connector was in order to have something to write in the Tech Log under "Action Taken".
