CareFlight is an Australian not-for-profit aeromedical organisation. Our mission is to save lives, speed recovery and serve the community.



We operate from locations in NSW, northern WA and the Top End of the NT. Our specially trained doctors, nurses and paramedics use helicopters, aeroplanes, medi-jets and road ambulances to bring a hospital level of care to over 5,000 patients each year. We also deploy medical professionals to remote oil, gas & mining sites, both onshore and offshore.



The role

Reporting to the Head of Flying Operations, we currently have an opportunity for a Rotary Wing (RW) Fleet Manager to join our team based in Sydney. We are looking for someone to act as a mentor and to provide support to our crews whilst setting the required standards pertaining to our RW Fleet.



The role consists of safety, regulatory compliance, day-to-day operations, policy and procedure design and development, leadership of flight crews and departmental documentation. Key responsibilities include:

preparation of regular flight operations reports for the Head of Flying Operations (HOFO) and Director of Engineering;
providing accurate and timely advice to the HOFO for any matter that may affect the safety and efficiency of the organisation;
providing technical advice in the evaluation of equipment, new and emerging technologies and proposed fleet changes;
working with the Head of Training and Checking (HOTAC) and Part 142 Head of Operations (HOO) to ensure that the crew are trained to meet the set standard;
analysing data and providing accurate and reliable advice/ recommendations to the HOFO;
ensuring that the fleet is sufficiently resourced with qualified crew and that regulatory and contractual obligations are met;
working with Human Resources and the Senior Base Pilots to resolve any Work Rule, EBA or performance issues related to the fleet; and
striving to continually improve the safety and efficiency of the operation.



About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

Tertiary qualification in Management (highly desirable) with previous experience in an aviation management role.
Demonstrated experience with operational, business and budget planning processes to support organisational objectives.
Detailed understanding and knowledge of safety principles, aircraft operating systems and processes, Australian Aviation legislation, regulations and compliance requirements.
An ability to analyse, interpret and report on changes to aircraft requirements and its impact on Fleet Operation.
Demonstrated experience analysing data in many forms.
An ability to effectively manage multiple demands in a high volume and rapidly changing environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Extensive experience in an EMS/ SAR role.
CASA issued ATPL (H).
Current Class 1 Medical.
2500 hours helicopter command.
500 hours multi-engine helicopter command.
AW139 Type Rating.
Instrument Rating multi-engine helicopter.
NVIS Rating.
Current Dangerous Goods Training certificate.
Current HUET course certificate.



The following will be highly regarded:

BK117/ B412 Type Rating.
Flight Instructor Rating with appropriate endorsements for the activities conducted by the organisation.
