Deputy Head of Training

Microflite Helicopter Services are looking for an experienced, motivated, and personable Grade 1 Helicopter Instructor with NVIS or IFR Instructor qualifications to fill the role of Deputy Head of Training. This role reports to and is directly answerable to Microflite’s Head of Training and will be filled by someone who has a passion for training and desire to focus their career in this area.

Microflite are a Melbourne based helicopter company operating a large and modern fleet of Airbus helicopters conducting high-end charter and tourism, aerial work (including firefighting and SAR), and para-public services. Microflite does not do ab initio training, so all training is for licenced pilots advancing their skills and career. This is a full time position based at our Moorabbin Airport facility.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

CASA CPL(H) or ATPL(H)

Current CASA Grade 1 Flight Instructor (Helicopter)

NVIS and/or IFR Instructor rating

Substantial knowledge of CASA aviation legislation, including recent and upcoming changes in legislation

Proactive approach to maintaining and enhancing currency of aviation legislation and legislative changes, and proven record of showing initiative in approach to anticipated changes

Strong work ethic and drive to succeed in chosen career path

Adherence to high personal and organisational quality standards

Ability to relate well to others

Ability to model best practice, and to drive beneficial change within the organisation

Ability to deliver constructive feedback, training and coaching to experienced pilots conducting specialist tasks

Ability to pass CASA flight testing as an instructor and CAR 217 training & checking pilot

Strong desire to further your career in a training capacity

Desirable:

Flight Examiner qualifications

Aerial fire-fighting experience (Helicopter)

Multi Engine qualifications and experience (light and medium helicopters)

Experience working within a CAR 217 training and checking organisation

Experience as a Training and/or Checking pilot in a CAR 217 organisation

Winching / Rappelling qualifications and experience

Aerial Application – Helicopter Fire Fighting Instructor qualifications
