Unhappy Captain Paddy

Captain Paddy has been a loyal servant of bmi for twenty years and is just two years away from retirement.

He is currently flying the B737 for bmi baby at EMA whilst employed as a bmi British Midland pilot enjoying mainline conditions of service. Prior to this he was a FKR 100/70 Captain at EMA.

bmi baby hope to obtain their own AOC in January 2004 and become independant from bmi British Midland.

Captain Paddy has been posted to LHR in January, just twenty-one months prior to his retirement as he remains a mainline pilot.
This may well be within the agreement for service but his job as a B737 Captain still exists at EMA. He could continue to fly out of EMA under his present terms and conditions until he retires BUT and this is a big BUT this option is unacceptable to the present management and has been sanction by the bmi British Midland Operations Director.

The cost of moving a pilot from one base to another is considerable. The ONLY justification for the move would be if there is no postion for Captain Paddy at EMA. bmi baby will have to find a replacement for him.

Perhaps Paddy is paying the price for being the "prisoner's friend" at an industrial tribunal a year or two years ago or maybe he's just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

So much for loyal service!!!

A sentence involving bat and rear end springs to mind.
