Missed Approach while Circling
I checked our Manual of Air Traffic Services today. Along with the direction for circling approaches is a sidebar note with the following text:
If a missed approach is initiated during a circling procedure, the aircraft is expected to fly the published procedure as shown for the instrument approach just completed. The procedure for the runway on which the landing was planned will not be used.
Again, this is direction to controllers, not 'law of the land'. It is in sync with the earlier posting from our Aeronautical Information Manual.
