As for what Putin would love I believe it would be to get a different form of EU including Eastern Europe with Russia in control and not annexation. But we go into speculative off topic again trying to figure out what Putin thinks, the terms for foreign captain at Aeroflot and Russian tax are definitely not bad. And as far as unions go we got a union with Germany, why being so afraid of Russia? People in Poland hated forced communism/socialism and NOT Russia (who suffered too from forced communism). But back to serious stuff about NATO and EU is that EU have nothing to do with NATO. And as far as NATO is concerned US think Poland is a great ally who pay 3,7 % BNP for NATO (according to Polish news) while Norway fail to pay the mandatory 2 % so I do not know who should be more afraid that US will skip helping them.
