737 Max - a users viewpoint?

Given the situation that relatively few passengers really know what kind of aircraft they are travelling on will the 737 max issue have a negative impact on people travelling on any 737 of which there are several thousand .

Will Boeings TV appearances and 'we put safety first' story convince people they are safe, after all, smart suited CEOs usually leave people with a negative impression these days and most will probably think that behind his PR and legal approved words he is just lying anyway. Is their 'its all down to a quick software fix and more but very little more training' just a script they have to stick to because any hint of design error means LITIGATION and admission of fault

Having read the differing opinions in the main forum has anyone from the skygod or boeing test pilot community offered to test how things work in a series of random flights where only one in say twenty has a MCAS or Sensor upset and that it happens at 1500 feet not 15000 and they have their family and friends in back?
