I have to say that, admittedly some 10 years ago, I flew 3 sectors, LHR/ARN/LHR & CPH/BHX with SAS and I particularly enjoyed the experience.
So long as it is reflected in the fare I actually prefer to pay for food & drink because then one isn't limited to how much they may eat or drink, on the LHR/ARN/LHR day I'd been up since crack of sparrows for a drive to LHR then straight in to a meeting at ARN before back on a teatime flight, I hadn't eaten or had a beer all day, I was knackered, and with my car parked at LHR I truly appreciated that SAS served low-alcohol beer and the most wonderful seafood baguettes, I was stuffing my face, I was so appreciative.
Compare that to, let's say, a German national carrier where they serve a 250ml miniature of beer and should one dare to ask for more or take a beer from their bag get scolded, well give me SAS any day!
