Not strictly correct. The CAA will ask if the primary principle purpose is a sports field. So a golf course does need permission. However a field that is used as a training ground some of the time fo rugby training is not as its principle primary purpose is a field not a rugby pitch. I know it is semantics but otherwise you would not be able to land in a National Park as its primary principle purpose is for recreation !!!! Basically the only person that can tell you is a judge !!!!
Which, unfortunately is why you need to get a written permission from the CAA - to avoid having to go to court.
