You actually have to wonder how many more Boeing will sell as articles written like that progressively get into the mainstream media. There are an increasing number of researched articles like this that slam the whole design concept. Yes, I know that we here can make technical rebuttals to the various points, just like in the US there were plenty of justifications for turboprops on shorter regional runs - but the public just did not accept them. And as for many the Max is a 737, the turn-off is possibly going to impact the NG as well.
