Gorgeous little airport. Had breakfast there this morning. Great baguette, superb coffee. Two check-in desks and one baggage belt between 'em. Surrounding countryside, beautiful. Approach road / infrastructure, impressive. Will it work? Depends on how well it's marketed to London / Southeast vacationers because £millions are pumped into the regional economy by big spending Lake District destinees from Darn Sarf. (I can be standing on the shores of Ullswater within a 40-minute drive-time from CAX.) Does it offer anything in the way of a strong proposition to business travellers? Wouldn't have thought so: Virgin's West Coast service ex-Carlisle is slick, fast, and reliable. Beats SEN routeing any day. Will there be local / regional support? Methinks so. Will that be enough? Well: who knows? Meantime: such a nice caff. Even if it's taken £5 million from the public purse to have the pleasure of this amenity. . .
