When I was doing some non-aviation work at the MVR office in Darwin(at $50 each - WORLD CAPITAL OF WANKY NUMBER PLATES!!) I struck up a conversation with one of the office guys who told me that there is a commitee that meets every week to discuss the 'suitability' of the personal plate applications. My fave - PHARQU - he said was absolutely borderline! - ie could be seen to be considered possibly obscene when interpreted in a certain way!
