In 1969 I used to fly a helicopter to a rig, chartered by the Abu Dhabi oil company of Japan, (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries), to an area about 60-70 miles West of AUH and they set up some facilities on what was then only known as 'Yas Island', the 'Sir Bani' must have been added later as the maps of the day only called it 'Yas'. Time marches on!
