Southampton isn’t Heathrow, it’s not slot or capacity restricted. I’m sure any additional carriers could have been accommodated even with KLM and Aer Lingus still there.
You are probably right, just a thought that popped in to my head that it might have suited both parties. Ams could be filled by a LCC and Cork services via the new Connect tie in with Stobart
