Looking at the FR24 recording for KL915 this morning the aircraft entered the SOU hold at 0832 and commenced an approach a few minutes later. At 0840 it carried out a go around from (as indicated on FR24) a low height and then made another approach and went around again at 0851, again from a similar height. It made a third attempt with another go around at 0911, having descended to a low height once more, and commenced a diversion to BOH at 0913. That sequence of three approaches over a short time would suggest that they anticipated having the required visual reference for landing each time. The third go around made it inevitable that they would have to divert. It would certainly be interesting to know why none of the three attempts were successful but I don't suppose we ever shall. FR24 is not infallible of course but is usually pretty accurate in these circumstances as far as heights are concerned.
