@India Four Two,
You checked out tow pilots in a two seater aeroplane? Lucky old you. The gliding club I was in bought a Tiger which wasn't up to carrying a passenger as well as towing a glider. When we first had it I was the designated glider pilot who had to be towed by newbies on their first tow after their check out on the Tiger by the CFI followed by a couple of solos. Before I could begin do that I had to go and have three tows at another club to meet the BGA requirement that the sum of the towing experience at both ends of the rope had to be at least six. I had some pretty exciting tows doing these early checks I can tell you. I had done over 700 aerotows as an instructor by the end of my glider flying and never had a rope break or any other emergency.
