Right now we are well and truly in the hands of the bloody EU, who hold pretty much every card
VP, and they have one aim in my opinion, one primary aim, to keep the EU united lest any errant country decides to leave (unwinding the great project), let the UK be a lesson to them they won't ignore. You'd expect nothing less of them doing this to be fair, and that is why I don't think they will budge an inch. The greater the pain for the UK, the greater the gain for them longer term.

Unless of course the UK gives up some of its red lines... utter humiliation and more for the intransigent politicians who may not well survive that, hence their extreme reluctance.
