This absolutely needs to be clarified.
Did this come from a current or former GC member with actual knowledge?
If so, is it true that the NC/GC attempted to divert a small pay increase to all for a larger HKPA increase for some?
I’ll be the first to admit that those on an LEP package are inadequately compensated. But that correction should never be financed by their fellow pilots. Especially so considering it is line captains upholding the training ban that are doing most of the heavy lifting to support a case for a HKPA adjustment. To hear that the NC/GC are planning on diverting funds from a pay rise towards HKPA will hardly support our current industrial action and certainly not be a solid foundation for an escalation. The GC throughout has assured us that each individual item will not affect other bargaining items.
Either this individual needs to clarify this accusation or the GC need to clarify that going forward, pay may be sacrificed for HKPA, or ARAPA may be further adjusted in order to improve other demographics package.
If that is in fact the position we find ourselves in, it’s safe to assume the pay scales will never be adjusted, nor will ARAPA be returned to the previous formula. Perhaps separating pay negotiations from our other issues is a sensible way of ensuring this doesn’t happen.
