I have an old Amazon Fire thing and in a similar way it automagically re-opens web sites in the event of browser crashes too. This is quite frequent 'cos it is just too old and somewhat like me lacks both oomph and memory. Usually solved by frantically stabbing at the page close button as it is loading up.
