Severe windshear is sometimes defined as that windshear that produces changes in excess of:
- +/- 15 knots in IAS
- +/- 500 fpm in Vertical Speed
- +/- 5° pitch attitude
- +/- 1 dot displacement from glideslope
- +/- unusual thrust lever displacement for a significant period of time
