In Italy you will have a very low basic salary combined with a "Guaranteed flight allowance" that results in a combined basic salary. Plus the usual diaria payments and sector payments. The advantage is that of the "Guaranteed flight allowance", only half is subject to taxation so take home pay is significantly higher than in other tax jurisdictions. I think diaria and sectors are tax free as well, but I haven't been in Italy for a while so not 100% sure.
