Unfortunately(?), no... there isn't... They (US govt) signed a new law earlier this year that gives Kiwi's access to the E-1 and E-2 visas... but these are for businesses and investors (Treaty Trader and Treaty Investor)... the E-3 is still an Australian only category.
So, as a Kiwi, your only options are the H-1B (very difficult to get as it is oversubscribed) and the "Green Card Lottery".

On a side note, what is required for a kiwi to go the US to do the ATP? Is it just a licence validation and temporary visitors visa?
