Thanks for your response, Intruder. Don't know about the 200 types Hans may have flown, just as I don't know about the 70,000 hours.
As I mentioned, we went to Canada for continued military flight training, so we spent close to a year together as Airmen-no-class and the corporals.
Hans was kept behind in London, Ont., for build-up of language proficiency; I never saw him again. That was in September 1957.
A chapter in his book deals with RCAF Training base Moose Jaw, Sask. I flew Harvards there, the T-6 for a goodly number of months, but no Hans. The same goes for my additional 8½ years as operational pilot back in The Netherlands.
In 2011, we made attempts for a Canada-class reunion of the few that were left, but Hans never responded.
A man reaches an age where those memories float to the top -- obviously my reason for rooting around on the internet.
