The key to 'solving' this entire problem is to minimize the time and impact the company can have on your life, enjoy your life, maximize your time doing stuff you like to do with people you enjoy being around, and don't give bad people rent-free real estate inside your head.

Airline IR is completely in the 'dark' (pun intended) when pilots are indifferent. For them to have a strategy they must first know their adversary, given they pull pilots to bits at the recruitment phase, they think they know. These surveys are just to fine tune their strategy. It most certainly is rarely about identifying and addressing problems.
