I suspect that all mobile providers everywhere will work this way. Of course if you use WiFi in another country this will not apply.

Europe is packed with free wifi services. Almost every restaurant, cafe, pub, and many shops have free WiFi. In a small place you often need to ask for the password. Larger places make you register online. Keep a spare email address handy for this sort of sh*te. I always try a completely fake address first. Just make it all up. [email protected]. Make a note of it cos you will need it again. PLEASE don't use anything that might be a real person cos you wont want someone to start getting your spam. Many free WiFi providers don't close the loop by sending you an email and simply accept what you put it.

In some countries such subterfuge might put you in legal peril. Take care.

You can check where your current IP address is registered (which may or may not be where it is really located - most likely correct but not always) with say -

https://www.iplocation.net/find-ip-address

This page displays my location as determined from four different registries. They all give the same country but give four different locations, some of them hundreds of miles apart. One of them looks as if it might correct (a small town nearish me) but the others will likely just be offices relating to the ISP and nothing to do with any actual network links.

Good luck.
