Thank you for some very good entries.
Without further ado, in 3rd place, Buster, with "Qantas' answer to the noise abatement issue at SYD!"
In second place, SASless, with "Hyphen~Smyth with his aerobatic Avro was shattered to learn of Tex Johnson rolling the 707 over Seattle."
and the clear winner, Wensleydale, clean bowled the opposition with "Algy complained that his AVRO was taking too long to repair because sandpaper was now a restricted substance in Australia!!"
Well done, Wensleydale, I'm just polishing the CST before bowling it to you.
For those interested, the photo was taken on Qantas' 45th anniversary in 1965. The airframe was the original Avro 504K, Qantas' first aircraft, and the engine was a Gnome rotary similar to the original. When it was found in disrepair, the aircraft was fitted with a different engine.
The aircraft was taxied past the international terminal by Sir Hudson Fysh, one of the Qantas founders and original pilots of the aircraft.
