TT - I have a friend who is a BA Senior Captain who is happy to "put in a good word" with the operating crew. Don't do it that often but the strike rate for upgrades is good. Recently, with F & J full the CSD came down and brought us a glass of bubbly and then the relief Captain came down and apologised again!! Brilliant. BA Flight Crew have much more authority re seating than we used to have in CX. Upgrade your mate in CX and the Chief would report you. Do the same in BA and the CSD brings you a glass of something nice. Culture I guess.
Put whatever word in he likes, it is against BA policy to upgrade other airline staff. Any captain who says he will or any ISM who says they will get reported just like in CX. It doesn't happen.
