Arfur I have flown BA using standby tickets on numerous occasions . Never once have I been upgraded or given champagne but I live in eternal hope .
why CX didn’t formulate an agreement with BA and many other airlines for standby travel in both EY and Business class is beyond me . You would only get a seat if there was one available so it’s not going to make an iota of difference to anyone except those travelling . But of course those who arrange these sorts of things would have to give reciprocal rights which they seem terrified of doing . Or maybe it’s just a vindictive move to stop staff enjoying anything other than cattle class .
