There was severe weather as Hurricane Leslie (
after being on CAP in mid-Atlantic ) went across Portugal at relatively short notice. There was bound to be a lack of accommodation. It is not that the crew had to spend the night in the crew room that is the issue if it all goes pear shaped that can happen to anyone. It is what happened after the bad night that is important: were they expected to be ready to fly the next morning or were they given a longer break to ensure they were fit to fly? If they felt that they were unfit to fly it is up to them to report that and not fly.
