How far could Jet2's 738's get from the extended runway?
I think the only regular use of the 738's in the past were Air Berlin flying to near Germany.
(did Air Europa use them to Palma and Ibiza? or was that long ago with 400 series)
It's also the Boeing landing distance that has far more issues - the 738 and Max has very much faster approach speeds over the A320, and has 4 little wheels with not so wonderful brakes.
That is why the 738 does not go often to GIB for instance, nor to SOU.
It has now and again been seen on the odd charter or a Lapland flight at SOU.

Re the derates on the engines for the A319
They are derated thrust compared to the same engine as used on the heavier A320 application (both IAE and CFM/GE variants)
They are basically the same engine with chip technology allowing the max thrust to be optimum for the aircraft type. (saves wear, tear and fuel)
A high thrust version is available for the A319 but afaik EZY did not specify this - despite having the HGW version seating 156 pax with 2 extra overwing exits added.

The A320/321neo has a completely new family of engine types.
