The runway was due for a full refurbishment about 10 years ago and it has only been patched ever since - it would take a complete rebuild and lengthening of the runway for it to become a P8 base. I will take your bet that the P8s will never be based there, other than temporarily, mainly because the P8 infra work at Lossie is already in build.
Roland, out of curiosity what is the LCN of a fully laden P8 in comparison to a fully laden Nimrod, and the comparison of distances for take off in nil wind/zero weather conditions at Kinloss, including all the magic things about V1,distance to 50' and all that other pilot sh1t (As Goose would have it)? Just asking.
