Spot on.

We’ve all experienced work stacking around leave.

It it is a scam.

Right now, in your contract, you have 92-ish GDOs, 42 vacation days and effectively 90 sick days at full pay available in your contract. The company has to schedule 900 hours around this while complying with FTLs. Which is why it is structured the way that it is.

So it’s an hours — not days — driven process.

With a part time roster it is very likely the company could still accomplish scheduling the lions share of 900 hours around whatever they might give you. By taking the part time you decrease your hourly pay while solving the FTL issue for them by using your own time and pay sacrifice.

So you will work more for less.
