Yes, I think this is proper description. PAF was subordinated to RAF operationally, but had personal indepndence, and could make some decisions, like choice of aircraft, etc.
So BCAL. Lech Laszkiewicz is still alive I think, andliving close to Gatwick. His Mustang was damaged on 7 June 1944, and he force landed behind the enemy lines - there is a German film of his capture. Spend the war in Barth, and escaped from there following 'liberation' by the Red Army, but I was unable to convince him to tell anything about that. The last time I was in touch with him, he flew Flight Simulator on a neat hand made cockpit. He was also an avid flying modeller. I guess he still is, health permitting. Morton is no doubt Henryk Jastrzębski,ex Lancaster and transport Halifax pilot. He passed away 13 years ago.
