If the problem is transporting an aged relative to the RAF club - train companies and stations are very much better than they used to be at assisting the less than able bodied if you book it in advance. My recommendation would be train to a terminus and then cab.
You don't know my mother in law. 92 and would not dream of carrying a stick, seeking assistance etc. We did manage to get her to use a taxi from the Palace back to the Club.
