Northeast Bolivian Airlines S.A. (Neba) took delivery of the first of three 300-passenger Lockheed L-1011 Tristars and will begin operations this month with an initial staff of 25, says parent company Tristar Capital.
Cochabamba-based Neba plans to provide regular and irregular flight services to other airlines in northeastern Bolivia and neighboring countries, including charters, special VIP flights and military transport. Two more L-1011s, with 28 seats in business class and 272 in economy, should arrive in the next few weeks. Fleet expansion also includes three 32-seat Dornier 328s to be used as feeders or for express services.
Florida-based Flightstar Group will handle U.S. marketing. Tristar Capital arranged Neba's credit lines to underwrite maintenance, crew training and aircraft certification. -LZ
