If this has been a "professional" flight for the two of them wouldn't you brief the takeoff and then wouldn't the PIC clearly state his intentions when
the engine failed?
On the other hand, it is also quite possible the before takeoff safety brief was covered in full detail
before engine start but not necessarily covered on camera?. No doubt that will be cleared up once both pilots have fully recovered from their injuries.
