My proudest 'bag' is the DH Dragon Rapide.
When I was very young, we went to Blackpool, and my father and my two siblings went for a flight in a DH89.
My mother refused to go and refused to let her 'baby' go either.
Forward 65 years and I was at Duxford with my son - and they were giving rides in the 'aircraft that I never flew in'.
I bought two tickets without consulting my son - considering that he is a frequent flyer - however he was terrified throughout the trip - I have never asked why - maybe because it wasn't a proper airline? - or maybe because he was in next compartment to the bomb in the Kings Cross Underground at Russell Square on 7th July 2005 . . . (which left him physically unharmed but psychologically wounded)
However I achieved my ambition - after 65 years - of flying in 'the aircraft in which I had never flown'.
