I have had DVT in 1998.
When asked, My consultant was of the opinion that it was much more prevalent in aircraft for the following reasons.
1) low oxygen level (7000 ft cabin altitude)
2) low relative humidity (12% approx) causing de-hydration
3) cramped seating
