When using the spare runway on 26R, the parallel taxiway is constrained by it's proximity to the now active runway. Last time I did this we had to detour via the North and under the bridge to get to Pier 2, hence bottlenecks and delays.
As I understand only one aircraft can use 26R/8L runway or adjacent taxiway at a time. Not sure if it's changed since I last heard but I can imagine it can cause them to really stack up during busier times.
That was more me thinking out loud than telling you your own job!
