I suppose the point that Wetcompass is making is we all pay for our training, so how much is too much?
I guess the other point is that everyone's circumstances are different and it comes down to matching the applicant and the culture of the organisation. I have hired off paper qualifications and good references only to find that the applicant was a poor cultural fit within the organisation, despite ticking every box.
I have hired great people with lower experience levels and they worked out great.
No hypothetical on PPRuNe will describe every set of circumstances and every variable.
