Not quite, chevvron. I went to school in Guernsey from 1954 to 1968 (& spent my first 18 years there - before moving to Jersey); One of my school pals had been brought up speaking Guernesaise as his native tongue, but the other 31 did not speak it. The "old folk" (grand parents) still used it amongst themselves but I would not say that it was "widely spoken". Today, there are very few Guernsey French speakers.
Returning to the photo', I knew that there was something familiar about it - just got the islands mixed up.
