Not a joke folks, these guys are having serious fun here. The MkIX is having open-heart surgery on its Merlin. I am not sure why the prop and wings are off (they don't look damaged)? However, the Merlin has both cylinderbanks removed (and laying on the ground either side of the fuselage). This sort of engine strip could have been something to do with piston or ring troubles. Double block change? Hmmm, interesting. I do not think those guys would be doing all that work for anything minor! Great pic!
With an airframe number EN 4nn, it could be either a Mk. IX or an HF VII. As that appears to be a 4-blade prop, my money's on the latter.
