Had the great privilege of getting to know the late Ted Sly who, when with 92 (East India) Squadron in North Africa , became with Neville Duke, a lifelong close friend.
Ted wrote of this in some detail in his book "Luck of the Draw". (Ted, incidentally, came up with me in a Cessna a year before his death, aged 94, in what turned out for him his last stint at taking the controls, which he did as though he had been doing so all his eventful life. His legacy lives on in The Spitfire Association and its endowments.)
