Correct. Instead, there is a very big 'buy out' policy. (now USD 48K I believe.)
They can't attract pilots because the conditions are so bad (forget what STC has said, they are >800 pilots short), other carriers are offering signing bonuses, but EK places a 48K bond on YOU to go work for them. That's the mindset right there - no idea, and believe that you the employee owe them everything for giving you a job. You would have to be insane to leave the US to go there now.
