Description
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a not-for-profit organisation providing world class aeromedical, search and rescue services, free of charge to those in need 24/7. The Service has more than 40 years of proud history, and now operates from three bases in NSW (Tamworth, Belmont, Lismore) in addition to a Head Office and aircraft maintenance facility based in Broadmeadow NSW.

The Service is seeking to recruit an Aircrew Officer to initially work out of its Belmont base with an opportunity to tour. In this role you will efficiently conduct helicopter aeromedical and search and rescue operations, conduct all operations to the highest standards of safety and professionalism, and actively communicate with supervisors and other helicopter aircrew on a regular basis.

Key position accountabilities and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Respond to all (real or simulated) emergencies and conduct helicopter aeromedical and search and rescue operations.
Operate aircraft communications and hoist equipment.
Complete pre-shift inspections of aircraft and equipment. Perform cleaning and refuelling of aircraft.
Evaluate and report on events, including identification of opportunities for improvement.
Actively participate in the company’s ground training program.
Maintain a high standard of radio communication procedures in accordance with CASA Radio Operators Certificate. Provide timely communication within the Operations department and to other departments if/when required.
Utilise the principles of aircrew resource management including proactive fostering of a neutral cockpit gradient and participation in aircrew discussions during planning, execution and debriefing of all missions to ensure lessons learnt from planning through to execution are openly shared.
Demonstrate and uphold exceptional safety standards including flight environment monitoring, Fatigue Management Systems and DAMP regulations.
Actively participate in a positive manner in community events when available.
To be considered for this opportunity you will have:

500 Hours Helicopter Aircrew
Completion of Aircrew IFR Theory
Senior First Aid
Advanced Resuscitation Certificate
Down the wire training
HUET Certificate
CRM training and sound computer knowledge
Communications and Radio procedures
Minimum Rescue Aircrew qualification
Helicopter SAR/EMS experience preferred.
The following criteria will be highly regarded:

Completion of practical exam IFR procedures
Dangerous Goods training certificate
Leadership training
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
NVG qualified
Winch endorsed.
You must be an Australian resident, be over 18 years old at time of selection, hold a current driver’s licence and be prepared to complete a Working with Children Check, Police Check, a pre-employment medical and a personality profile online.
