This thread reminds me that the monitored approach policy at BA had the benefit of giving me a source of great comedy at Oslo one morning. Captain was PM for the flight but flying the approach, as we handed over at 1000' he took the time to remind me of the fact that the best landings come from the most stable approaches. Luckily enough I absolutely greased it on, with an almost imperceptible kiss of rubber on tarmac and, as the nosewheel lowered, he remarked "ooh that was a lovely approach!" Had me in stitches.
