Getting a class 1 med before committing to training a good idea yes, means there will be no surprises should you fail further down the line. However, this is absolutely by no means an entry criteria at this point.
I sat an assessment previously with lads and girls who had PPLs and Class 1s, half of them got sent home half way through the day because their group work wasn't up to scatch.
Obtaining a class 1 at this stage of the recruitment process is probably the least of your worries. Sitting in that final interview, you'll realise that having a class 1 medical will probably not put you above anyone else at that point.
