Just as a matter of interest, does the crew literally hand the keys to an A380 over to the valet parkers, saying "you break it, you've bought it" as they saunter off towards the hotel. having already taken a note of the mileage?

Hopefully the valet parkers on the air-side of the fence are better than the last lot I used at a passenger terminal.
Keys and damage form are handed to the Emirates engineers. Unsure what the standard damage excess on a A380 is, it can't be pretty and I think the daily mileage allowance is quite low. Have you ever reverse parked an A380? Such a pain without rearview mirrors and no rear parking sensors. But anyway, they usually take good care of the old girl on the way to/from Bravo and back. Same with the support crew with the tug and stairs (Qantas/Aerocare?). It's much better down there out of the way than getting banged by tuckshop trucks and wayward pushbacks up at the terminal.

So what's the crew break in Melbourne? Are they back on duty on the next day flight, so in at 5am on Monday, fly out 9pm Tuesday? Or do they rock back up for the return flight the same day?
