And also, if you connect elsewhere, when you board your last flight to MAN you know you can hopefully sleep for a few hours on an overnight then be home within an hour or so of landing - if you go via LHR it adds another 3+ hours to cover the last 150 miles. I now fly Virgin when going West and Emirates when going East for work - from a regular BA connector a few years ago. It's all perception, but is preferable for me.
